Marc Abramiuk

Dr. Abramiuk is an archaeologist, applied anthropologist, and professor in the Anthropology department at California State University Channel Islands. He has worked in defense, in development, and education. His archaeological fieldwork has mainly focused on reconnaissance and salvage, particularly in logistically challenging environments. His general research interests include cognitive archaeology and applied archaeology and, by implication, ethnography and ethnology. Abramiuk currently works as a socio-cultural research consultant and as a university lecturer. As a consultant, Abramiuk has advised clients in defense and development on ways for improving distribution of products and services in culturally relevant, sustainable ways that benefit the environment and people involved. As a lecturer, Abramiuk has taught many diverse courses, ranging from statistics and field research methods to area studies and prehistory, at six higher education institutions. He has a number of academic publications including a book published with MIT Press on the burgeoning new sub-discipline known as cognitive archaeology. He also has number of applied research products, mainly in the form of proposals and reports for his clients who make use of his multidisciplinary background.
